By Fredrick Odiero

Kisumu National Polytechnic students on Tuesday, May 24 went on a rampage around the school following claims that the institutions administration was planning to interfere with the constitution touching on student leadership.

The irate students who engaged police in a street confrontation also said that the chief principal, Mrs. Catherine Kelonye, had abolished students staying in hostels, hence inconveniencing students who come from far.

Kelonye however denied the claims, saying that there is difference in accommodation within the institution and outside.

Some student also accused the student leader, Sylvester Koyoo, of siding with the school management and neglecting them.

It forced police to lob teargas canisters to dispersed the irate students.
