Ancent Kituku, Kangundo parliamentary aspirant has vowed to look keenly into the ailing performance of schools in the area in national examinations, saying that he will put strategic measures in place to uplift the education standards.

Speaking in Kangundo, Kituku, the immediate former Machakos County Health boss and parliamentary hopeful expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance in both 2021 KCPE and KCSE in the Sub-county.

He outlined his plan for the constituency, stating that education will be the hallmark of his development agenda in a bid to improve the education standards.

The candid politician explained that apart from buildings, schools need mentorship and motivation.

“We will do this by creating an education stakeholders forum to deliberate on how to improve academic performance. Also by using professionals from the area to motivate students,” he noted.

“I will also partner with NGOs to start a school feeding programmes as this will ensure the children stay in school. We can do it, there are constituencies in which the programme is successful,” added Kituku.

He promised to construct more day schools, stating that a lot of children walk for long distances to get to school.

On bursary, he noted that he will give full scholarships to needy students and also increase the bursary to cushion parents.

“We will map out all schools requiring boarding teachers and ensure they are paid through NG-CDF. Introducing an award day for the performing and improved students will also go a long way,” he concluded.

In the 2020 and 2021 KCPE and KCSE examinations, Kangundo was among the Sub-counties that performed dismally.
