Parents who do not take their children to school will be arrested and charged in a court of  law for violating  the children’s rights.

Mr. Onesmus Onyambu reminded the parents that the constitution guards the child from all abuses including child negligence.

“Any child you have in your family belongs to the government which is ready to protect them,” he said.

The chief told his assistants and the clan elders to work hand in hand to provide lists of any pupils who sat for the 2021 KCPE examinations but have not reported at any secondary school for admission.

“This time round, my office will add more effort to work with the education offices to pick any of our wayward learners,” he said.

The chief revealed that during the period where the government had placed stringent measures due to Covid-19 pandemic, many girls got pregnant and ran away from their homes for early marriages to cover their shame.

He appealed to the parents of such young and ignorant couples to counsel them by reminding them that the pursuit of education can be started at any time and any age.

“Let them go back to school and acquire family life skills for proper parental care of their offsprings.

He asked the mother to be closer to their daughters as they mature and teach them about the dangers they may face.

The chief appealed to the churches to device relevant and youth friendly programmes in their services to enable them attract and retain youth in the church.
