Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo has called on women in the county who dropped out of school and are willing to continue to apply for scholarships in her ‘Second Chance Programme’.
Museo, who runs the programme to save women and enable them pursue their education regardless of their age, said she wants to reach as many women as possible and change their lives.
“Currently I have two women in university and four in college. It’s open for any woman willing to resume their studies from where they dropped to better their lives,” Museo said.
Speaking at Unoa grounds in Wote town, she said women should reach her or her officers regardless of whether they are married, with kids or not. She added that they always make proper plans to balance school and family so not to inconvenience anyone.
The woman representative also announced that she will be defending her position and was confident of landslide win having worked tirelessly for her county.
Winfred Kalewa, a beneficiary, said she had dropped out of school due to lack of fees. She met the county MP while doing small scale farming and shared her story.
“I had two children; I used to work as casual laborer to feed them. We talked with Museo on that day and she promised to empower me,” Kalewa said.
She is now pursuing a Degree in science and technology at Meru University after she went back to high school to begin afresh from where she had left and qualified for university.
