The Joysil Preparatory School situated in Kakamega County, Matungu Sub-county has once again posted exemplary KCPE performance in the 2022 examinations.
The academy had a mean of 349.17 up from 329.52 in 2020 emerging among the best 100 Public and Private schools in Kenya with its best pupil Michelle Nanjala scoring 422 marks.

The school is located in Koyonzo, just one and half kilometers from the market along Mumias Busia highway, making it accessible and convenient place to school at.
Immediately the results were announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha, parents, students and teachers converged at the school grounds to celebrate the results.
Joy and ululations rented the air as they sang and danced, making a procession from the school, crisscrossing several towns within the area.
They traversed several towns which include: Ejinja, Matungu, Mayoni, Shibale and Mumias through Ogalo, Butula, Nambale, Munami, Koyonzo, Mayoni and Shivale.
Speaking exclusively to Education News at the school, the Director Mr. Sylvester Musikoyo said that he was elated by the results attributing them to hard-work and discipline.
He observed that the class was cooperative.
He mentioned that the school has realized its core purpose of giving back to the community through quality education.
“As a school, we are happy for the exemplary performance. We had good support from parents who have been coming for academic clinic of students and keenly following the academic progress of their children,” stated the Director whose idea of starting the school came when he was the pioneer TSC teacher at Koyonzo Secondary School when parents used to take their children to far flung areas in search of quality education.
He stated that he came up with the idea of starting a low cost institution adding that the school has unveiled the boarding section and the parents have liked the idea.

He explained that the boarding section will enhance an extended catchment area and host students from all corners of the country as well as retain students at school to ensure that they are well attended to.
On the qualified team of teaching staff, who are carefully selected, he said that the school creates a sense of family so that teachers, learners and other staff can bond. The leader said that the teachers are cooperative and feel part and parcel of school’s programs.
Mr. Musikoyo said that the pupils are taught to grasp the content and understand as opposed to drilling of pupils.
The Director said that they do thorough revisions and the candidates managed 19 mock examinations in 2021.
“We take our children holistically and they are assisted by teachers to move at their pace. We also give every pupil good attention so as to add value to learners. We also want the pupils to develop confidence and self-esteem as well as perform the assignments given to them,” he said.
The leader said that the school has enough supply of water and provides meals to students which include lunch and tea for day scholars while boarders receive breakfast and supper that is well balanced.
He added that students participate in co-curricular activities and have been going for championships with other schools across the country.
