Last touches are being put on preparations at the Kenya Medical Training College Rarieda Campus in Siaya County ahead of the September 2022 intake.
Speaking during the inspection of ongoing works at the campus, Fredick Wamwaki, who led a delegation from the national office of the KMTC Board to review projects in Western Kenya, noted that they were satisfied with the progress made by the area NG-CDF in ensuring proper infrastructure is in place ahead of the admissions.
“We want to thank the community, area MP Otiende Amollo and the CDF team, and the Project Management Committee. We must express our satisfaction at the level of preparedness of this college and we hope that sooner we will begin to rollout courses,” stated Wamwaki.
The KMTC Board member said what remained was a small area of fixing electricity and water connections.
He noted that that the new campus will play its part the realization of Universal Health Care, including opening the area to socio-economic growth.
Mrs Nyawira Mwangi, KMTC’s Deputy Director Academics noted that it’s the aspirations of the institute to begin the courses and train for better health.
“In our college the mission is to train for better health; so we want the community to enjoy better health. The impact is an improvement in health of locals, as well as improving their socio- economic status as associated with the training institution,” said Nyawira.
Rarieda NG-CDF Chair Dr. Saoke on his part assured that all works will be completed ahead of the September 2022 intake. He said that all the hostels, administration block and the classes are in their final stages.
“We must thank the board for trusting us thus far. Overall, we are sure that by the end of May, everything will be ready for handover to the KMTC Board,” assured Dr. Saoke.
