Graduands urged to uphold discipline in life

Graduands have been called upon to maintaining a high sense of discipline  in  order   to have a successful  career path.

While addressing graduands  during   the 9th  graduation  ceremony  at West Kenya  College      in Bungoma  town, the  Bungoma South Sub-county  Director  Of  Education  Mr. Nicholas Kiprop  Mulwa noted that for someone  to climb faster, the professional   ladder  he or she  should be ready to  learn ,listen  and  be very dedicated to their duties  .

According to Mulwa, many graduands  have missed on employment opportunities  due to indiscipline cases.

He said that the graduands should  be ready  to do volunteer work in fields  like teaching  so as to gain  practical  skills to be better placed for jobs in both the Public and the Private schools.

The Education officer  reiterated  that   the National  Government through  the Education Ministry   is committed  to ensuring  that  the Competency  Based  Curriculum (CBC) is a success story.

Mulwa  told the graduands  to shun away  from  political sycophancy during  this electioneering  period  for peace to prevail.

His  sentiments  were echoed  by  the  West Kenya College  Governing Council  Chairman   Dr.  David  Wanyonyi, the  Chief –Principal  Mr Peter  Nandasaba   and  Director  Of The  Institution  Mr  Suleiman Omari   Mabonga .

Mabonga urged parents  with students  who have  an aggregate of C Plain in KCSE exams plus five passes  in  Mathematics, Languages, a science subject  and a humanity  to embrace the teaching profession  so as to achieve  Quality Standards in the Education Sector.

“Raising of entry points  for  students willing to enroll into the  Teachers Training College  is a challenge  in getting enrollment for the institutions, but in the long run it is a good move  as it is going  to give the Teaching Profession  the respect it deserves in the Society  just like other courses,” the Director said.

During  the  Graduation  Ceremony  a total  of 300  graduands  were awarded  after meriting with  Passes  and  Credits in  the Diploma Primary  Teacher Education  (DPTE)  and  Early Childhood Development Education  (ECDE).
