Mixed reactions as top pupil scores less than 150 marks in school

By Allan Kibet

As schools across the country are still in the mood of celebration due to good performance in KCPE examination results released by Education CS Prof. George Magoha on March 28, a school in Bomet County has shocked the nation as the top student scored 137 marks out of the possible 500 marks.

Due to the poor performance, Chingondi Primary School in Bomet managed to attain a mean score of 86 out of 500.

Parents and the community around the school on receiving the irksome results, held a peaceful demonstration urging the Ministry of Education to help resolve the issue as they blamed it on the school management.

The County Ministry officials are said to have visited the school shortly after the release of the examination results.

In 2011, Nyakemincha Primary School came bottom nationwide in ranking but the school has marked remarkable improvements.
