Kisii residents elated as homegrown candidate comes second in KCPE

There was joy and dance in Kisii town immediately the residents discovered that the second top candidate in the 2021 KCPE examinations, Ashley Kerubo, hails from the Kisii highlands.

“This is another big surprise to note as top boy Bruce Mackenzie is one of our own,” said Steve Arika, a Kisii resident.

When she spoke to the media in Kisumu town, Kerubo revealed that she aspires to be an astronomer.

“I am fascinated by space science and I am now on my path to achieve my dream career,” she said.

According to the 14-year old girl who scored 427 marks from Makini School in Kisumu County, she wishes to extend her studies in the science subjects to enable her explore the wonders in the space; the beautiful stars and everything that is in the space.

Her parents Mrs. Rose Kazika and Geoffrey Momanyi Bigogo commended their daughter for embracing high discipline that enabled her to achieve good results.

“She likes staying alone in a calm room as she enjoys things to do with animation,” said the father.

Mr. Momanyi said he is pleased with his daughter and promised to support her in all possible ways to enable her achieve her coveted dreams.

Her mother testified that although the daughter is a good cook, she was once attached to her studies to a point she could forgot to take her meals.

“My daughter was addicted to good performance until she refused to eat at one time when she dropped from position one to two in class,” narrated the elated mother.

The happy Ashley attributed her Sterling performance to self-discipline, hard work and supported from both parents and teachers.

She hopes to join Kenya High School and concentrate on the pursuit of her dream career of conquering the space.
