Keep fight for the boy-child, activist ask community

Human Rights activist from Kisii County have told the society to remember to fight for the boy child who is said to be in danger.

They said that the residents have over emphasized the protection of the girl child against their abuses at the expense of her boy counterpart.

Led by Enas Nyaramba of the Young Women Democrats, they cited this year’s KCPE enrollment of the big number of girls against  the boys and attributed it  to parents who have assumed that the boy child is able to take care of himself but this has exposed him to parental negligence.

“The false assumption that boys are safe from abuses should not blind our parents to neglect our young boys.”She said.

She narrated how society acts hyperactively whenever a girl child is molested as compared to the low response they show when a boy is molested.

She appealed to the police to apprehend a woman from Nanga Division of Nyamira County who is alleged to have eloped with  a school boy.

According to Nyaramba, 45-year old woman  eloped with a school boy of 15 years and lived with as husband  and wife for the rest of  last term.

When his parents discovered the woman’s sexual affair with their child, they reported the matter at Manga Police Station but the woman was arrested and released to settle the matter out of court.

“This is a serious matter where parents expose their children to the immoral ogres,” she complained.

The activist promised that her office will make a follow up on the matter and  expose the evil.

Independent investigation by Education News discovered that the alleged woman was arrested by Manga police men but later released her on cash bail.
