The police in Narok County have started investigations in to an incident where two candidates who were found with cell phones during the ongoing KCSE examinations.
According to the principal of Oromareko Secondary School in Bosmoru location, two boys were found in the dormitory with the cell phones as examinations had started.
“We decided to make a follow up after the boys failed to turn up at the examination room in time,” reported the principal.
It was at that point that the Examination Centre Manager were concern and alerted the police officer on duty who then arrested the suspects.
Narok County County Commissioner Mr. Isaac Masinde confirmed the unfortunate event.
Speaking to Education News on phone, the county boss suspected that the impudent boys were working under instructions of an adult, saying that if they reveal the person who connived with them plans to possess the cellphones, the suspects and their helper will be arraigned in the court of law.
“They were arrested but we will interrogate them to reveal the owner of the cellphones,” he said.
The arrests comes three days after other two candidates were arrested in Nairobi County in connection with the possession of cellphones against the current examination regulations.
“This morning in Nairobi we already had two students found with cellphones but we are going to be soft with them and allow them to take exams,” said the CS for Education Prof Magoha on Monday.
This reporter did not establish whether the two suspects in Narok were allowed to continue with the examinations after the arrest.
