The head teacher of one of top performing public primary schools in Kenya has thanked the TSC for posting enough teachers to his school, expressing his confidence that they are now ready for the national examinations.

AIC Malivani Boarding and Day Primary School Head Teacher Mr. Joshua Kimenzu Mutuse has said that the school is well equipped with proper teaching staff of 23 against 21 streams though they still have PP1 and PP2 classes.

“I thank TSC for posting enough teaching staff. We will continue doing our best to produce the best knowledge equipped learners,” said the school head.

AIC Malivani has a population of 540 pupils, 230 being girls and 310 boys with committed teachers who, together with the pupils are setting targets which are met on time, making the school a top performer.

Last year, the school that is situated in Wote, Makueni County had a mean score of 363 and are now targeting 375 in this year’s exams.

“With a candidature of 124 pupils, we managed to have 12 students with above 400 marks, 83 scored between 350 to 399, 25 scored between 300 to 349, only 4 scored between 250 to 299 and we had no students who scored below 250. Our top two students had 417 and 408,” Mutuse remarked.

The school head added that they follow all professional records guided by policy, invite motivational speakers to encourage pupils as well as sharpen teachers marking skills.

Boarding primary starts from Grade 3 upward and the rest are day scholars. 70 per cent of the teachers are hosted in the school. The government has supplied enough CBC books for grade 1 up-to 5 and trained the teachers well with CBC curriculum design.

School Deputy Head Teacher Magdalene Mumo said discipline of pupils and teachers is commendable. She added that they strictly follow time and work as a team.

The school is currently erecting a wall around the compound with the support of parents. They have installed solar for back-up in case electricity is out, installed Wi-Fi,  tiles in all the buildings, a borehole and 52-seater bus all to create friendly learning environment and good performance.

Kimenzu was transferred to the school in 2018 from Kari-Mwailu Primary School which produced the top girl nationwide last year. He headed the school for nine years.

“We apply the same efforts here. Here we only compete with ACK Wote Boarding Primary School at Sub-county level. All in all, the schools aim at producing well equipped learners who will become useful people in future,” added Mutuse.
