A somber mood has engulfed Nyamira as residents learn about the sudden death of the branch KUPPET Vice Chairman Benson Mokaya.

According to close family members, the teacher died in hospital on Monday after he was involved in a road accident while he was heading home from school.

“We rushed him to hospital after the accident but my husband has left us too soon,” confirmed a sorrowful wife.

Talking in Nyamira town, the branch Executive Secretary Mr. Lewis Nyaweba confirmed the death of his colleague.

“Our brother Ben Mokaya is not with us anymore, the message you can see in social media about his death is a real,” he confirmed.

Nyabweba termed the late Vice Chairman a dedicated teacher who loved his career and the union that bestowed power on him to stand for teachers.

He said that the gap he left behind was unfathomable to fill.

Among those who sent early condolences to the family was the chief principal of St Paul’s Gekano High School Mr.Albert Ombiro.

He called the deceased a man who was jovial at all times and liked to impact people he met positively.

Mr. Ombiro wished the Nyamira County teaching fraternity and the family of the late the courage and wisdom that only come from God to comfort them during the sad moments.

Nyamira County Director of Education Mrs. Margaret Mwirigia said that the county had lost a resourceful teacher who embraced and loved his work.
