KUPPET’s national trustee elections held

After being postponed for about a year due to Covid-19 pandemic, the long awaited national trustees’ elections for Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) have finally been held.

The election which saw 14 trustees elected to represent various regions at the national level took place during the unions Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) on December 18, 2021 at Eldoret Polytechnic.

The body’s constitution provides that the national trustees should be elected in the first ADC after the general elections.

The election was supposed to be held in 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Central, Nairobi and Eastern Region elected three representatives in which Jacob Karuraa garnered 207 votes, Framwel Nyaga 45 votes and Yvonne Musyoka187 votes.

The Coast and North Eastern Region representatives included Ummi Wando Maloma 26 votes, Shadrack Mutungi 52 votes, Yusuf Abdullah Mohamed 65 votes, Ali Bash 168 votes, Lynnette Kamadi 44 votes and Cludia Timothy 82 votes.

Finally the Rift valley, Nyanza and Western Regions shall be represented by Charles Mukhwana 186 votes, Lusweti Furaha 39 votes, William Lengoyiap 136 votes, Saruni Tasur 25 votes and Dherok Peter Ochieng Omolo 49 votes.

The union structure has divided the country into three regions with the first region consisting of branches in Coast and North Eastern regions, the second region consisting of branches in Nyanza, Western and Rift Valley while the third region consists of branches in Nairobi, Eastern and Central regions.
