Kericho County Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony has termed Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) as an essential block for the future success of children.
Speaking during the distribution of a consignment of learning materials worth Shs 215.4 million to 221 ECDE centres in the county, the governor said the county government was keen to lay a firm foundation on all ECDEs to improve the future prospects of young children.
The learning materials he distributed consists of textbooks, chairs for both pupils and teachers, wheelchairs, assistive materials for the physically challenged learners and 250 tables for their teachers.
“ECDE is an essential building block for the future success of any child,” he said.
He added that infrastructural development hugely affected the overall growth and development of young learners.
Acting County Executive Committee Member for Education, Culture, Social Services, Sports and Youth Affairs Dr. Shadrack Mutai said the department was focused on equipping all ECDE centres in the county.
