Students at Obera Boys Secondary Schools last night went on a rampage following the sudden demise of their colleague who collapsed while playing football.
According to the area Chief Kapis Olal, a form three student at the institution within Central Kabuoch Location, Ndhiwa Sub-county was last evening hit by soccer ball in the head after which he collapsed and became unconscious.
The school administrator has told the press that the school principal quickly organized for the student to be rushed to the Samari Medical Centre at Rodi Kopany but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the health facility.
“We believe the impact of the ball might have resulted in his collapse and death after hitting it head on,” said Olal.
The incident led to a protest in the school last night forcing police officers from Magina Police Post to intervene and therefore diffusing the tension but some school property had already been destroyed.
Ndhiwa Sub-county Education Director Daniel Anekeya has confirmed the incident, saying they are working closely with the security team to investigate the matter.
The body has since been moved to Kirindo mortuary awaiting postmortem.
