Focus on studies instead of engaging in vices, students asked

Lurambi Sub-county Director of Education Kingora Mwangi has urged students from the region to take education very seriously instead of engaging in vices like the burning down of schools.

He reiterated that the government has spent millions of shillings towards construction of schools and that it was not appropriate to bring them down in a day.

Speaking at Rosterman Secondary School during the opening of a four classroom building funded by MOHZEL Investment Company, he asked students to utilize well the new classrooms and know what brought them to school adding that MOHZEL and government have sacrificed a lot.

“When a complete building is burnt to ashes reconstructing it becomes a burden to your parents who are already struggling to raise school fees and foot other family needs. You do not need to do such things instead concentrate on your academics which will come handy in your future life,” the director stated.

Mwangi however advised parents to support the school in terms of provision of lunch by contributing some money especially for day schools arguing that no student is send home for fees because the government takes care of tuition fees.

Students were asked to choose their friends very carefully and not to entangle in bad companies who involve themselves in taking alcohol and drugs like bhang which would destroy their future.

The area chief Benard Muhanji said the school serves Ikolomani, Sichirayi and Shiyunzu although it was still under in terms of development. He urged students to keep off setting schools a blaze and instead work hard on their studies.

The school Principal Mrs. Mary Bwate thanked MOHZEL investment for the good gesture and appealed for more infrastructure as the student population was growing. She further urged the students to work hard so as to improve from the 2.9 mean grade.

MOHZEL investment is a company that prospects in Gold mining and as one of its Corporate Social Responsibility; it funded the classrooms in the school which is located in the Gold rich fields of Kakamega.
