KCPE, KCSE finalists urged to enroll into Vocational Training Centres

Youths in Kilifi County who completed their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education have been urged to enroll into Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in the region so as to gain different skills.

 Speaking to Education News in Kilifi town recently, Kilifi County Executive Committee Member for Education Rachael Musyoki urged the youths to acquire basic skills from the VTCs instead of loitering in streets.

Musyoki also urged parents in the county to encourage their children to join VTCs in large numbers so as to acquire skills which are marketable in terms of the job market.

“There are currently 38 VTCs in the county with an enrolment of over 6,449 students”, Musyoki noted.

She further revealed that the county government will soon recruit 41 more instructors to enhance technical training education in the region.

Currently, there are 250 instructors in the county.129 instructors have been employed by the county government while 121 instructors have been employed by the Boards of Management.

She disclosed that Technical Training Institutions play an important role of preparing the Youths in the country for future self-employment.
