Shieywe Secondary School requests support on stalled projects

By Hilda Atika

Old students of Shieywe Secondary School have called for more funding on infrastructure following stalled classrooms at the institution.

Speaking during the inspection of the projects led by the School Principal Kefa Atsobwa, the old students said the construction of eight classrooms by NG-CDF have stalled and therefore requested government or well-wishers to join in to complete construction of the classrooms.

The old students decried the state saying, Shieywe an old and famous school has been left behind on financial inclusion. They questioned why the government was concentrating on other schools on infrastructural development.

Old students Melisa Andeyo who left the school in 1996 and now working with an insurance company in Kakamega town with her counterpart Jackson Omwoma reiterated that Sheywe is a big name in Lurambi Sub-county and that they are proud alumni.

They however thanked the principal for his role towards the development of the school as more classrooms were being contracted where before, students used to learn under trees.

The old students were happy with his leadership and the plans to move the school to greater heights, adding that in 2006 there were only two streams in the school with just few classes.
