Safety assured to students, parents and stakeholders of Laikipia University

Laikipia University through the office of the deputy vice-chancellor, administration, finance and planning have ensured students, parents and stakeholders their safety at the varsity following the tense security situation in some parts of Laikipia County.

The letter addressing students’ parents and stakeholders indicated that the security situations affecting parts of the county has not in any way impacted the university.

“The region that is experiencing insecurity (Ol Moran) is located 75 kilometers away from the university and so bears no attachment to the university,” the letter reads in part.

The first year students reported to the institution even as the continuing students are progressing with learning.

“We would also like to inform our esteemed stakeholders that the university is currently in full session, with all students pursuing their learning, research and outreach activities without hindrance or inconvenience,” the letter reads in part

The letter also indicated that the institution is adhering to Covid-19 protocols that were put in place by the ministry of health.  

The surge in banditry in some parts of Laikipia County affected learning process in the affected areas as more security officers were deployed to control the situation.  

To some circumstances the police were seen escorting pupils back home during the closure of schools.
