Varsity don offers success tips to students

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) lecturer Prof Matthews Odhiambo has asked secondary school students to balance their time while studying all subjects as they make earlier preparations for their future careers.

Speaking to parents, teachers and students of Nyabururu Girls National School in Kisii, the don urged learners to love reading story books as knowledge from the books will assist them cross the delicate bridges caused by the ever evolving global events.

 Arguing that it’s only through education that one can positively change their lives permanently, Prof Odhiambo stressed on the need for schools to offer quality education.

‘Parents should be readily available to advise their children on the importance of working hard in their studies,’ he said.

The don presided over the issuance of Shs 30,000 cheque to Stacy Achieng Ochieng, a form two student, who emerged position three in the National Essay Writing competition.

She received the money and a personal certificate award from the Kenya Postal and Tele-Communications Agency.

The chief Principal of the school, Mrs. Joyce Orioki, assured parents that their children would succeed from the school.

She unpackaged the road map of the school towards achieving their examination target this year.

‘The teachers and students are fully prepared to achieve their target mean of 9.5 this year,’ she said.

She added that a cooperative staff and good will from the community and other education stakeholders are indicators of their anticipated success.
