Youth in Kilifi County who completed Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) urged to enroll in Vocational and Training Centers (VTCs) in the region to be imparted with various skills and knowledge in different fields.
Speaking to Education News – Digital in Kilifi town recently, Kilifi County Executive Committee Member in charge of Education Ministry docket, Ms. Rachael Musyoki advised the youth to fully co-operate and acquire basic skills from the VTCs for their future life, instead of loitering in the streets of urban centers within the county, as the tendency would make them face difficulties life in future.
The county executive also urged parents in the county to encourage their children to join VTCs in large numbers to acquire skills which are marketable in the job market.
“There are currently 38 Vocational and Training Centers in the county with an enrolment of over 6,449 students”, Ms, Musyoki noted.
However, she revealed that the county government will soon recruit 41 more additional instructors to enhance technical training education in the region.
Currently there are 250 instructors in the county, of which out of the 250 instructors, 129 have been employed by the county government, while 121 have been employed by the Boards of Management.
She disclosed that technical training institutions play an important role in the country by preparing youths in the country for future self-employment.
