Kari Mwailu head teacher Mathew Masaku was among 31 teachers recognised by Teachers service commission.
Masaku was recognized together with Utafiti Primary School head teacher Nzyoka Stephen Ngoma placing the county on top list by producing two of its own.
Speaking to Education Newspaper-Digital at Wote town, Masaku whose school produced the top candidate in 2020 KCPE nationwide said he is overwhelmed by joy and that he is working towards top performance through-out.
“I know my school is still the center of focus in the next national exams, well, we might not produce the top candidate but our candidates will be among the top performers all along. It is not bad either if we produce the top again. No school is limited,” he said amid laughter.
The joyfully Masaku was excited that the employer chose to recognize him after a long struggle, saying the school had produced many professionals in the past and will continue to do so together with his excellent team of teachers.
The headmaster added that, just last month he was moved to the next job group in promotion thus, thanking God for the favor.
He observed that his teachers are excellent in class and he is hoping for the best.
He however decried challenges on infrastructure saying the demand for those interested to join the school was high but is inadequacy in space.
“Take for example; the other next classes have got over 200 pupils. So far we cannot admit any more students but with enough infrastructure we can give room,” Masaku.
However, speaking during the rewarding of the 31 teachers on International Teachers Day, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia stated that they are not suggesting that the honoured teachers were the only remarkable they had.
“In fact the number is just a tip of the iceberg,” she said.
The TSC boss added that they will keep on finding more ways to make sure teachers feel recognized and appreciated for what they do.
