Jubilation rented the air at Tinderet village in Nyamira County after news of the appointment of Prof. Isaac Kibwage to the position of Vice Chancellor (VC) of Egerton University reached them.
In a statement dated 5th October 2021, the acting Chairman of Egerton University’s Governing Council Dr. Wilson Kipruto Ronnoh said the appointment takes place immediately. Prof. Kibwage will replace Prof. Rose Mwoya, who retired in June 2020.
Professor Isaac was born in 1954 to Omweri Kibwage in Bosinange village of South Mugirango, Kisii County.
The family moved to Tinderet in Nyamira where he register and attended Tinderet Primary School, from where he sat for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE).
He then joined Nduru Secondary School for his O-level before proceeding to Kisii High School for the Kenya Advenced Certificate of Education (KACE).
The brilliant Kibwage joined the University of Nairobi in 1979 to pursue Bachelor’s degree course in pharmacy in which he excelled, winning a scholarship to study in Belgium.
He attained his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Pharmaceuticals from Khatolieke Univerteit in Belgium.
It was from there that he has worked for various Universities across the world. The scholar has a wide experience in the medical field that has elevated him to consult and chair numerous medical related bodies.
