Men warned against impregnating school girls

By Collins Akong’o

Matuga sub-county deputy commissioner Isaac Keter has issued a warning to men who impregnate school children that their days are numbered and that they could be imprisoned for 20 years if implicated.

He added that school children are protected by the law.

His sentiments come after a class two pupil was impregnated in Borani village, Matuga constituency.

Data from the Department of Health Services indicated that 11,542 teenage deliveries were recorded in Kwale County between January to December 2020.

The ministries of health, education and youth and gender affairs in Kwale County collaborated to develop a new action plan to address the growing concern of teenage pregnancies.

The plan aims to increase access to family planning information and services for adolescents and teenage girls aged between 10-19 years.
