Parents urged to concentrate on subject performances of their children

By Lydia Ngoolo

The Director of Kitheini Institute of Professional Studies Benedict Mativo has encouraged parents to check the individual subject performances of their children and not the total marks or mean grade.

“Checking on subject performances enables a parent to know where a learner has difficulties in,” added the director.

Speaking in his college in Wote, Mativo said each subject matters in the careers the learners want to pursue.

“Career guidance should start as early as high school since that’s where many mess with wrong choices and combination of subjects,” he added.

He called upon parents to stop forcing their children to pursue courses they are not interested in just because they are marketable.

He urged students who didn’t qualify for university to join colleges and reminded them that they can succeed from anywhere.
