Zetech University Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Njenga Munene has challenged researchers in Kenya to offer solutions to the problems facing Kenyans.

Speaking during the launch of Zetech Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Hub at the main university in Ruiru, Munene said that researchers can influence the policy making decisions for the country through their studies.

He argued that problems such as unemployment, drought, diseases, child labor, depression, poverty and non-communicable diseases can be solved through research.

“We have the mandate as universities and researchers to join hands with like-minded partners to conduct need-driven research and disseminate the findings so that we can offer solutions to the social-economic problems facing the society,” Munene said.

He insisted on the need to disseminate the research output to influence policies as well as conduct capacity building workshops so as to mentor other upcoming researchers and scholars.

“Innovations and research must become a part of our lives. Market places these days are for the highly innovative entities,” he said.

In attendance was Bimas Kenya Limited C.E.O Dr. Patrick Gathondu who advised students to be techno-savvy and entrepreneurial so as to have competitive edge in the job markets.
