Mororo residents urged to take their children to school

Madogo Deputy County Commissioner, Emmanuel Kiraga has called on Mororo residents to take their children to school.

Talking to residents at a public Baraza at Mororo market,    the administrator wondered why many children were roaming around the streets yet they should be in schools.

Kiraga asked the chiefs through nyumba kumi   to report parents who haven’t taken their children so that legal action could be taken against them.

‘It’s the duty of a parent to ensure their children are guided well and in school, ’’he said.

Hussein Wachu, an opinion leader, accused the Tana county government of not providing services to residents.

‘How can Madogo and Maramtu secondary schools lack water yet   these learning facilities are lying on the banks of mighty Tana River? It is unfair to expect students to fetch water from the crocodile and hippo infested river,’’ Wachu said.

He also blamed the county government for not providing bursary yet the CDF was operational and there were few students.

Salah ward area MCA Fauzia Karani explained that their role was to debate and give suggestion to the county government.

‘’ We propose and debate but the implementation arms lies with the governors’ team,’’ she said.

MS Fauzia said it was ironical for Tana River County government to pocket Shs 4.2 billion annually yet there wasn’t much development in the county.

Ms Karani called on residents    to shun early marriages, child labour and FGM as these were detriments to school admission.

She urged the local Bura MP Ali Wario to build toilets and a kitchen for Hatata primary school saying it was unhygienic for students to answer calls of nature under trees in the open.
