Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has said that no schools will be closed because of Covid-19 cases.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret town recently, Kagwe said there were few cases of students infected by the virus.

‘So far, we have very few cases of teachers infected by the virus therefore schools will continue operating normally,’ he said.

Kagwe called on teachers to go for the Covid-19 vaccination jab saying it will protect them from being infected by the virus.

“I want to urge teachers to voluntarily get vaccinated for their own good and that of the children they are teaching,” Kagwe added.

He was speaking days after Teachers Service Commission (TSC) threatened to take stern actions against teachers who will not be vaccinated by a given deadline.

He urged school managements to strictly follow the directives by the Ministry of Health to prevent further spread of coronavirus.
