Ladgera, a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution whose construction was being funded by the National government is finally complete, awaiting students intake in September.

Garissa county commissioner Boaz Cherutich, urged the youths from the area to take advantage and apply for technical courses to be offered at the institution

“We are grateful that the Form four leavers in Lagdera Sub County wishing to undertake technical courses will no longer need to travel 176 kilometres to Garissa town,’ he said.

He was speaking after assessing the institution and was accompanied by members of the County Development Implementation Coordination Committee.

The school principal Abdul Saman said the TVET College will admit 50 students in September for technical courses including plumbing, electrical and mechanical engineering, building and civil engineering among others.

It will also offer courses like supply chain management, community development and business courses.

Lagdera Technical and Vocational Education and Training is the first and only technical institution in the area. It was commissioned in 2016 at a cost of Ksh 50 million.
