Sombre mood has engulfed Chongeywo village in Mt. Elgon Constituency after the body of a 22 year-old man was found in the bush. The man, Samuel Juma disappeared yesterday afternoon.
Nathan Sichangi, the deceased’s father, said that he found his son’s body hanging on a tree in the farm. He revealed that Samuel had mental problems since April this year.
“My son developed mental problems earlier this year. We sought medication and he was treated but the problem recurred yesterday before his disappearance,” he said.
Sichangi said that the mental challenge made his son stop his secondary education at Kaptanai in Sirisia Constituency.
Noah Wokolo, a neighbor, urged well-wishers to help the family raise funds for the burial.
Chongeywo location chief, Eliud Kiptalaama confirmed the incident and urged youths to share their problems with parents before making the wrong decisions.
The body was taken to Bungoma county referral mortuary.
