Chairman Kenya Teachers Colleges Principals Association (KTCPA Nairobi region Margaret Kahiga has said TTIs are looking forward to admitting quality students and offer quality education to them.

Speaking at Mwingi teachers training college during private and public TTC principals meeting, Kahiga said with raise of qualification grades for joining TTIs, the colleges will be admitting  applicants and churning out highly qualified teachers.

“The current scheme is focusing much on CBC and we are CBC compliant. Sports is much emphasized and we are deeply in it,”  said Kahiga.

She, however, lamented that some colleges have no students like Narok and Kitui , but hoped that they will still get applicants. She pointed out that Machakos and Thogoto TTCs  are the CBC piloting colleges and they are ready to train successful applicants.

The chairman applauded the government for advertising the intake.

The vice chairman Nairobi region and host director Julius Mutukaa of Mwingi teachers training college, expressed his joy that with the current Basic Education Act, private institutions have been recognised.

He thanked the Ministry of Education for allowing private and public sector to work together as a team. Mutukaa called for continued partnership and more involvement of all stakeholders in the undertakings.

“Let us all bear in our minds that no learner is private, only the institutions are private. The past should be forgotten completely when private sectors used to be sidelined. Let’s work together for the betterment of the Kenyan child and their future,” Mutukaa.
