Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has been urged to employ more teachers in schools as a strategy for early syllabus coverage to prepare students for the national examinations.
Speaking to Journalists at Matili Friends Secondary School during a thanksgiving mass, David Mwangale, school board chairman lauded the government for allocating a good amount of money to the education sector.
“The money allocated to schools should be used to hire more teachers, Matili Friends Secondary has fewer teachers”, he said.
However, he added that despite being hit by Covid-19 Matili Friends Secondary school managed to send 21 students to university.
Mwangale differed with Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha on fees arrears directive adding that students should not be profiled in school.
“Profiling students from poor and rich homes should not be encouraged in learning institutions. Let parents clear arrears if they are in position but the issue of separating learners into groups’ demoralises them,” said Mwangale.
In his appeal, Mwangale asked the government to have a mechanism of funding learning institutions. He added that due to 100 per cent transition, the government should have good mechanisms in schools.
