Be fair in Form One selection, private schools tell govt

By Osborne Ben

As the form one selection started many class eight graduates were full of anticipation as they waited to go to their schools of choice. Many dreams and aspirations of young minds depend on this exercise.

Private schools in Trans-Nzoia have urged the government to be fair in this exercise regardless where the learner schooled. Be it in public or private schools, they should do justice to a particular learner’s performance.

“This exercise should consider a learner’s KCPE performance, school of choice, his or her region and merit,” noted Bishop Dr. Joseph Kigotho Ng’ang’a the director at Revival Springs School in Kitale, which had a mean score of 335.38. The first student Noroge Patience Wangare scored 395 marks in 2020 KCPE.

He said many boys give up on education once they are denied a chance at their school of choice and end up in crime. He said the boy-child needs a lot of mentorship in life and role models as the attention has been shifted to the girl -child as was depicted in this year’s KCPE results. “All children should be treated equally without any partiality  for any nation to progress,” noted Bishop Kigotho Ng’ang’a.
