Kenyatta High School leads in Taita Taveta County

Kenyatta High School in Mwatate sub-county, Taita Taveta County celebrated the first position in the county and its 78.8% transition to the university as 145 out of 184 candidates scored C+ and above in the recently released 2020 KCSE results.

The institution recorded a mean score of 8.09 up from 7.74 in 2019, showing a positive deviation of 0.35

The school’s Chief Principal Mr. Macharia Kagutha led the celebration by applauding the 2020 candidates for the good results posted.

According to Mr. Macharia, the school recorded 16 A-, 30 B+, 34 B (plain), 41 B-, 24 C+, 23 C (plain), 10 C-, 5 D+ and 1 D (plain), giving an overall mean score of 8.09.

Dr. Aggrey High School in Taita sub-county emerged second in the County with a mean score of 7.658 up from 7.42 in 2019, a deviation of +0.238.

According to the results by the school Principal, there were 7A- (minus), 22 B+ (plus), 23 B (plain), 23 B-, 38 C+, 33 C (plain), 8 C- and 4 D+ giving a mean score of 7.658.

A press release by KUPPET Chair, Shedrack Mutungi indicated that among the top schools in the county are Murray Girls High School Mwatate with a mean score of 7.370, Bura Girls High School Mwatate, with a mean score of 7.321. St. Mary’s High School Lushaghonyi, with a mean score of 6.70, Voi Boys High School in Voi Sub-county with a mean score of 6.120 and Timbila Boys High School, Taveta, with a mean score of 5.162.

KUPPET Taita Taveta County branch Executive Committee congratulated candidates in Taita Taveta for their splendid performance. The top performing schools and the teachers were also applauded for their good work despite the challenges posed by covid-19 pandemic and promised to recognize and reward them.

“KUPPET appreciates the great efforts by our teachers and the union will find a way to recognize and reward them,” said Mutungi.
