Echoes of Mercy Christian School is model church sponsored state- of the- art facility situated in Kabondo Kasipul constituency of Homa- Bay County and continues to shine in KCPE performances over the years.

In the 2020 KCPE results, the school produced a mean of 390.05 which is a positive deviation from the 2019 mean score of 381.5 making it one of the top performing schools in Nyanza region.

All the 20 registered candidates scored quality marks with the top candidates being; Fidel Odhiambo (412 marks), Fidel James (404), Gideon Bryan (404), Berlyvine Amoka (402) and Japheth Ochieng (400).

The last candidate scored 369 making them all eligible to join top national schools.

The Director, Bishop Moses Omondi Odhiambo attributed the exemplary results to the hard work, determination and motivated teachers who have been giving their best to ensure the candidates are attended to appropriately.

“We have a proper functional Board of Management (BOM), qualified and determined teachers and disciplined pupils but above all the fear of God must be supreme at Echoes of Mercy Christian School that is why we have continued to lead as others follow,” said the Director.

Bishop Moses Odhiambo, a renowned Evangelist established the school in 2010 and has since significantly uplifted the face of Kamuya-Kojwach community, a society that had suffered poor educational standards owing to the dire poverty levels that relegated children to staying out of schools for lack of fees.

“The situation in the community was so pathetic, I realized that many children were from humble backgrounds and were therefore unable to go through formal education because their parents or guardians were struggling to make ends meet making it difficult to raise fees for their children,” disclosed Bishop Odhiambo.

Bishop Odhiambo stated that parents were only engaging in illicit ‘changaa’ brewing as their local economic activity.

“As a little child within the same community, I also went through a lot of traumatizing experiences trying to go through formal education process so I pretty much understand their predicament hence decided to create a change that would impact this community forever”, he said.

He said “My vision was to use education as a tool to eradicate alcoholism which destroyed and killed many youths and children as well as to tackle the poverty situation in this community. Today alcohol brewing is a thing of the past since the school has formed an avenue of reaching so many people with the Gospel of Christ.”

Bishop Moses also had a vision of raising a good number of professionals from marketable career disciplines from the area. Since 2010 Echoes of Mercy Christian pupils who were enrolled in pre-primary classes are currently enjoying good education in National schools like Ng’iya Girls, Moi Girls Isinya, Nakuru Girls, Maranda Boys, Kanga Boys, Asumbi Girls among other top schools.

“We believe that after four years these kids will be pursuing different professional courses in different Universities,” he said.

Most of the pupils at Echoes of Mercy Christian School come from very humble backgrounds. The Christian school has raised and financially supported many needy pupils to achieve their educational dreams.

Japheth Ochieng’ the fifth best candidate in 2020 KCPE results after getting 400 marks out a possible 500 marks is one such beneficiary.

“He lost his parents through a tragic road accident when he was still a little boy. Echoes of Mercy Christian School came to his rescue upon realization that he was an orphan and paid his 8 years primary school fees,” said Bishop Moses.

The second boy is Christopher Ateka, a humble boy who joined Echoes of Mercy Christian School in 2017 in class six. He just came from the streets of Nairobi where he had lived as a street child together with his siblings for 3 years after their parents separated.

His fees was paid by Echoes of Mercy Christian School, did KCPE in 2019 and managed 393 and was called to join Kenyatta High Mwatate which is a national school but due to lack of fees he got admission at Masosa Secondary school which is a sub-County school.
