Principal Secretary in charge of Early learning and basic education, Dr Julius Jwan has called on teachers to go for coronavirus vaccination.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town, Dr Jwan said this will prevent teachers from being infected by coronavirus.
“I want to call upon teachers across the country to go for the coronavirus vaccination and not to fear that it has side effects,” said the Principal Secretary in charge of early learning and basic Education.
“The coronavirus third wave is no joke and I urge teachers to take advantage of measure put in place to get jab,” he noted.
“As teachers we are at risk of being infected by the virus since we interact with students, fellow teachers and parents , and, therefore let us go for the vaccine,” he added.
He further said that pupils who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education will join form one in July, 2020.
“I want to tell parents that their children who sat for KCPE will be joining form one in July, the school calendar changed due to the effects of coronavirus. I want to call upon parents to get ready and ensure that they take their children to school,” Dr Jwan said.
Dr. Jwan said all pupils who sat for KCPE will join form one and that no one will be allowed to repeat. The government has set aside Sh 22,420 per student for free secondary education,” Dr Jwan said.
He further said that there were no irregularities in this years 2021 KCPE exams
“In this year’s KCPE there were no irregularities witnessed across the country. I want to thank all stakeholders who ensured that the exams were conducted in a conducive environment free from cheating,” he said.
