Ensure teachers are decongested during exam marking- Knut official

Makueni branch Knut executive secretary Benson Ndambuki has urged Knec to make sure that teachers will not be congested in dormitories during the marking of exams.

Ndambuki spoke at Wote town where he said that making sure that teachers are decongested will be one way guaranteeing   adherence of Covid-19 protocols recommended by the Ministry of Health.

“In the past we have seen teachers who mark national exams facing  several challenges like congestion in those marking centres. With the rise of Covid-19 cases and deaths,  there must be stringent measures followed otherwise it will be like beckoning calamity,” he added.

With the start of KCSE, he called upon invigilators, supervisors, centre managers among other Education stakeholders to make sure there is smooth running of the exam just like it was in the concluded KCPE.

“As a union we are impressed by how the exam exercise was conducted. I know there must have been few challenges like candidates being rushed to hospital and taking exams from hospital beds, but we made it a success,” added Ndambuki.

He, however, cautioned candidates not to dare to cheat in any exam paper.

Apparently he urged parents of day scholars to ensure they give the candidates ample time and provide them with everything they need especially face masks.
