TSC interviews teachers for promotion at the Counties

By Malachi Motano

Interviews for promotion of 33,000 teachers will be done at the County level unlike in the past when they used to travel to Nairobi.

The Teachers Service Commission (CEO) Nancy Macharia said they intend to promote teachers based on the Career Progression Guidelines (CPGs) which has already been opposed by Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).

“Unlike our usual tradition, the commission has gone out to all counties to meet the shortlisted teachers there,” said Macharia.

In a statement to the media, TSC explained that the interviews were scheduled to take place between February 8 and February 19.

The CPGs were developed in 2018 to guide the commission in tracking the career growth of teachers, guide the recruitment, retention, development, training and promotion and to ensure teachers meet  set standards.

Under the CPGs, the career path for school administrators is clearly outlined.
