Madam Esther Ntheya Muli, a teacher at Wote Secondary School in Makueni County who was being held for being the last person to be with the Machakos Senator Boniface Kabaka before fell sick in a suspected poisoning case has been released.

Ms. Muli was released from Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi after being in the 36hours in custody over an alleged attempted murder charge. However, the police realized the charge of poisoning could not hold after the doctors conducted medical tests on his blood which ruled out the possibility that he could have been poisoned, as earlier thought.

Madam Muli’s lawyer, Makueni MP Dan Maanzo confirmed yesterday that she had left the police cells. He said the police did not set any conditions for her release.

“That means she is now free and not a person of interest,’’ said the lawyer.

According to an earlier report by detectives, the senator drove to an exclusive apartment at 3Dees in Nairobi Upmarket estate where he was joined by Muli after one hour.

At night after the duo had ordered drinks and food by telephone, the senator began vomiting and developed complications then collapsed. Muli frantically made efforts to take him to Nairobi hospital where he was admitted and still undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit.
