Obado urges teachers to contest elective positions in 2022

Migori County Governor Zachary Obado has urged teachers to remain united in the fight for their rights and welfare saying it will bear fruits.

He noted that being a teacher is an added advantage towards leadership and hence the urge to achieve more in life.

“Leadership positions do not dictate on who should get them in terms of occupation hence teachers should aim higher by joining the national politics more so in elective seats,” said Obado.

Speaking to KUPPET aspirants in the region at his home in Rapogi where they had gone to condole the governor after the death of his mother, he encouraged them not only to think of vying for posts within the union but also on national politics.

The former secondary school teacher revealed that it took him time to realize his will in the national politics but encouraged tutors to believe in their ability and fight for the political seats across the nation.

“You are in a better position since you have started politics by vying for positions in the union to advocate teacher’s welfare at the county level and this should not be the end of your journey,” he said.

“Take every opportunity of leadership with the seriousness it deserves to serve the nation,” he added.

He, however, appreciated the support he has received from teachers during what he termed as his low moments.

The governor who is not  new in the corridors of justice confirmed that  he has been receiving an immense support from those he still refer to as colleagues.

“The teaching profession is a united union and we must work towards maintaining the good image it deserves. I have been assisted by teachers during my low moments in politics,” he noted Obado.
