70 adult learners in Taita Taveta County have registered as private candidates to sit for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
Speaking to Education News from Wundanyi town recently, Taita Taveta county director of Adult education, Ms. Christine Nzige said that out of the 70 adult learners, 17 will sit for KCPE while 53 will sit for KCSE.
She urged the learners to study extra hard in order to post impressive results.
Ms. Nzige noted that the adult education learners in the region are currently facing great challenges like paying examination registration fees among others.
“Examination registration fees has been identified as the major stumbling block for the adult learners”, the director of adult education noted.
Ms. Nzige asked Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOS), well-wishers and individuals to help adult learners to pay for registration fees, arguing that the move would enable the learners to register for examinations in large numbers.
She urged adult education teachers to prepare their learners well for the forthcoming exams noting that the trend would enable them to produce better results and raise the education levels in the county.
