The government will partner with various education stakeholders to build and improve infrastructure in sixty six schools in Nyamira County, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has said.
Machogu noted that a conducive environment with enough facilities, learning materials and adequate food is sufficient to improve learners’ performance.
He was speaking when he hosted a section of the county’s leaders to discuss the region’s state of education.
“The funds are ready and will be disbursed soon. I urge Boards of Management to monitor the progress closely to ensure quality work is delivered,” he said.
The leaders, who included West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka and his Borabu counterpart Patrick Osero, lauded the CS for spearheading the initiative.
They also lauded secondary schools from the region for posting sterling results in the 2023 KCSE examinations, singling out Nyambaria, Kebirigo, Nyamira boys, Tombe, Rangenyo and Sironga secondary schools.
Borabu MP Patrick Osero reiterated the call by Nyamira leaders to establish a University in the county.
Osero said that the establishment of the institution will ease imminent student congestion brought about by the 100% transition policy and the new KCSE grading system.
