A young athletics sensation from Bomet County has left spectators and officials in awe during the national Primary School athletics held in Kisumu County.
Natasha Chepkemoi, a 6-year-old grade 2 pupil at Saseta Primary School in Mogogosiek ward, Konoin Sub-county of Bomet County, has earned the right to represent Kenya at the East Africa Games in Tanzania following a remarkable performance at the national championships.
Competing in the 2,000m race walk, Natasha stunned everyone by claiming the gold medal in her first year of competitive athletics.
Her coach, Clement Korir, who is also the father, revealed that Natasha has been training diligently at home and that her discipline and determination, despite her young age, were truly exceptional.
“This is her first year to run competitively, and yet she has shown incredible focus and stamina,” said Korir.

Natasha’s mother, Victory Korir, shared that while running has always been part of the family’s routine during their school days, it was never pursued seriously.
“We used to run, but not like this. The young girl’s dedication, combined with natural talent and family support, has made her a source of pride for her school and community,” she said proudly
Natasha is the second-born in her family,and her achievement has inspired both her peers and the wider community.
Her outstanding performance has sparked celebrations in Mogogosiek, with many hailing her as a shining example that age is no barrier to greatness.
As she prepares to travel to Arusha, Tanzania, to compete at the East Africa games in August, the community is rallying behind her with immense pride and encouragement.
Natasha Chepkemoi’s story is a powerful reminder that with passion, hard work and perseverance, even the youngest athletes can achieve extraordinary feats.
