TSC to honour about 309 teachers at World Teachers’ Day celebrations

  • Educators excelling in talent development and early years teaching will also receive recognition during celebrations.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is expected to honour about 309 teachers for outstanding performance in various fields during the World Teachers’ Day celebrations tomorrow, Monday, October 5, at Kasarani Gymnasium in Nairobi.

The awards will recognise educators who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to teaching, school leadership, innovation, talent development and the welfare of learners.

Among the categories lined up for recognition are International Recognition Awards, National Honours Awards, Teacher Mentor Awards and Sustainable Development Educator Awards.

Other categories include Most Resilient Teacher Awards, Innovation and ICT Integration in Teaching Awards, Inclusive Educator Awards and Early Career Educator Awards.

Teachers who have excelled in co-curricular activities and talent development will also be recognised, alongside educators who have made significant contributions to child protection.

School leadership and lifetime service

The Commission will further honour outstanding school leaders through School Leadership Excellence Awards, while teachers with long-standing contributions to the profession will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Early years educators will also be recognised for their contribution to laying a strong foundation for learners’ development and education.

The awards are expected to be a major highlight of the celebrations, providing an opportunity to recognise teachers whose dedication and achievements have made a difference in schools and communities across the country.

World Teachers’ Day is marked globally on October 5 every year to celebrate teachers and highlight their contribution to education and society.
