The Kenyan government is intensifying its efforts to ensure the effective implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) by assigning 500 school inspectors nationwide.
Their role is to monitor the preparedness of Grade 10 classes and assess various aspects of school operations, such as infrastructure, staffing, teaching resources, and sanitation standards.

This deployment is part of a larger strategy to manage the transition of students from Junior Secondary to Senior secondary schools, which is set for January 2026.
Education stakeholders, including the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Ministry of Education officials, conduct countrywide inspections to verify that schools are fully equipped for this shift.
The State has established 11,600 classrooms nationwide, costing an estimated Ksh 8.1 billion to accommodate students transitioning to Junior Secondary under the CBE framework.
