The National Assembly Education Committee has assured that the confirmation of the 46,000 Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) intern teachers will continue as promised.
Chairperson Julius Melly said funds had been set aside for the purpose and there was no cause for worry whatsoever.
Speaking in his Tinderet constituency, he said the 20,000 interns will be hired soon will afterwards be converted into Permanent and Pensionable terms.
“The confirmation of the 46,000 intern teachers will continue as planned. This is an assurance I give as the Education Committee chairperson,” he said.
To address the trainers’ shortage and boost Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country, he noted that funds have also been allocated for the hiring of the trainers.

According to him, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to dispatch appointment letters to 26,000 interns starting today.
Melly appealed for patience from Kenyans, adding that Kenya Kwanza is keen on fulfilling its promise of hiring a total of 116,000 teachers by the year 2027.
“I would like to appeal for patience among Kenyans on this matter. Kenya Kwanza is keen on fulfilling its promise of hiring a total of 116,000 teachers by the year 2027 to boost education in the country,” added Melly.
TSC has since advertised 20,000 internship positions, days after President William Ruto withdrew the Finance Bill following a wave of demonstrations in the country.
