402 schools approved to admit JSS learners

Nyandarua County Director of Education Phillip Wambua has revealed that the Ministry of Education has approved 402 primary schools in the county which have fulfilled the threshold to admit Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners.

Wambua said that out of 402 schools, 325 schools are public schools while 77 schools are private schools.

Speaking in his office in Olkalou, Wambua urged all education officers to ensure that the process is fair and transparent so that only primary schools which have met the recommendations of the Ministry of Education admit grade seven learners.

He revealed that by January 13, 2023, education officers from the county had completed the assessment in all sub counties.

“We assessed 462 primary schools, 350 public and 112 private schools. After thorough assessment, we approved 325 public and 77 private primary schools,” said Wambua.

He revealed that in Kinangop South sub county, 45 public and 18 private schools were approved out of the 45 public and 25 private schools in the county.

In Kinangop North sub county, all the 45 public and 15 private primary schools were approved.

In Aberdare sub county, the ministry approved all 27 public primary schools and four private schools out of the 27 public primary schools and two private primary schools in the county.

In Nyandarua Central, out of 46 public and 6 private schools, 41 public and five private schools were approved while in Mirangine sub county, out of 29 public and 13 private schools, the Ministry approved 25 public and 3 private primary schools.

In Wanjohi sub county, out of 34 public and six private primary schools, the Ministry approved 34 public schools while in Ngaranji Sub county, out of 24 public schools and five private primary schools, the Ministry approved 23 public and two private primary schools.

In Kipipiri Sub county, out of 30 public and six private primary schools, 27 public and  three private primary schools were approved while in Nyandarua North sub county out of 43 public and 11 private schools, only 36 public and eight private schools were approved.

In Nyandarua West sub county, out of 25 public primary schools and 11 private primary schools, the Ministry approved 22 public and 10 private primary schools.

Wambua urged all parents and guardians to ensure  all learners are admitted to JSS.

“We want to encourage parents in Nyandarua County to ensure all learners are admitted to JSS,” said Wambua.

He also encouraged all learners to work hard to achieve their various dreams.

Wambua thanked all candidates who performed well in their national examination and urged this year’s candidates to shine brighter than their counterparts.

Wambua also thanked all parents and other education stakeholders for their cooperation in supporting education in the county.

Among the best performing schools in KCSE from the county are: Nyandarua High School (8.55), Karima Girls (8.463), Kisima Secondary (9.17), Njambine Boys (7.5936) and Nyahururu High (7.171).
