The 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term II National Games officially begin today in Kakamega, marked by major changes to the basketball competition.
This year’s 3×3 basketball tournament for both boys and girls features a revamped format, with two pools of eight teams each, doubling the number of participants compared to previous editions.
The number of scheduled games has also increased from 64 to 128, marking a historic expansion for the sport at this level.
Under the new structure, the top four teams from each pool will automatically advance to the quarterfinals. KSSSA officials say the format aims to enhance fairness, raise the standard of play, and accommodate growing interest in the sport.
