Education stakeholders at Nyange DEB Primary School in Mbakalo ward in Tongaren sub county have something to smile about 39 pupils from the school were gifted new school uniforms courtesy of Thirsty Shona Textiles Company from Bungoma County.

Mr. Wanjala Omusoreri, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility officer, said the programme targets students from poor backgrounds and is very instrumental in promoting quality standards of education.

Addressing journalists while distributing school uniforms, Mr. Wanjala revealed that the plan dubbed Shati Rinda Campaign will be rolled out in the entire Bungoma county to 170 students.

“I would like to urge leaders and education stakeholders to partner with us so as to  increase the number of beneficiaries,” he said.

Nyange DEB Primary school head teacher Mrs Violet Mang’oli applauded the Thirsty Shona Textiles Company for the initiative, adding that most of the students in the schools come from humble backgrounds hence  they need support.

She noted that the school has a student population of 900 and that they are in dire need of more classrooms.

“Our classes are mud thatched. The students carry cow dung to school and this poses a big risk to their health.” She concluded.
